Tequila is definitely on the upswing. Sipping tequila has changed considerably from the early days of the ones that made you swear off the spirit forever. Well, it is time to re-think and re-try.

Azunia Tequilas are the perfect tequilas to do just that. Azunia is what they like to call farm-to-bottle. It is NOT factory-to bottle! It is technology-free, chemical-free, additive-free, and celebrity-free!

This three-generation agave growing family’s distillery at Rancho Miravalle has over 5000 acres and over 400,000 Blue Weber Agave plants. They are sustainably farmed. No diffusers or autoclaves are used. The pinas that are at least 8 years of age are hand loaded into clay ovens (hornos) and slow roasted for 3 days before pressing. No yeast or sugar is used. A naturally occurring fermentation takes place in the open-air stainless-steel tanks over 8-9 days.

American Oak Barrels mostly used Jack Daniels barrels rest the new tequila. Blanco is not rested in barrels. Reposado means rested and theirs is rested for 8 months. Anejo is rested for 18 months. Azunia 2 Year Black is pulled from the oak barrels at 18 months and put into a secret, separate proprietary barrel for an additional 6 months of resting before bottling.

Azunia Tequilas are great to drink neat or on the rocks. This gluten free, additive free, vegan friendly spirit has no fat or carbohydrates. It has 96 calories per 1 ½ oz pour.

Azunia Tequila Recipes

AZUNIA ORGANICA SKINNY MARGARITA
1.5 oz Azunia Blanco or Reposado Organic Tequila
¾ oz Azunia Organic Agave Syrup
1 oz fresh lime juice
Splash of water
1. Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker.
2. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds and pour
into a glass.
3. Top with garnish.

SPANISH SPARKLER
1 oz Azunia Reposado Organic Tequila
¼ oz Azunia Organic Agave Syrup
½ oz Fresh lemon juice
Champagne
1. Combine Azunia, Agave Syrup and lemon
juice in an ice-filled cocktail shaker.
2. Shake for 8 seconds and strain into glass.
3. Top off with champagne
