How many years have you been slinging drinks?
Since Free Roam opened in February 2022.

What’s something people don’t understand about your job?
It is hard work! You are constantly required to be on the move to ensure the taproom operates smoothly. I am exhausted after most shifts!

What’s something that people would find surprising about
your job?
The importance and requirement of having knowledge about the art of brewing beer. Also having knowledge about each beer and understanding what makes them so unique.

What got you into this industry?
My interest and love for craft beer, and to continue working in a field interacting with people.

What keeps you at your job?
My work team, our friendly customers, the overall work environment, and the delicious beer!

What’s been the hardest part about your job?
Transitioning from a traditional 9-5 job to a service job that requires you to work late and on weekends. My weekend is now mid-week!

Do you REALLY act like a therapist to a lot of people?
I wouldn’t say a therapist, but I do find myself providing my perspective on a broad range of life topics. I try to listen more than I speak. I have had many interesting conversations with patrons from behind the bar!

What makes your bar so special to you?
It’s a fun place to work with a lot of energy and happy people. Maybe the beer naturally makes people that way?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I always felt like I possess strong leadership skills. I can see myself in a leadership position with Free Roam as we continue to grow.

Your favorite misconception about your job?
For me, specifically, most new customers assume I am one of the owners of the business (Jeremy), the former professional baseball player. Sometimes I just smile and pretend that I am!
